Crispy Tuna Patties

Do you ever find yourself rummaging through your cabinets and fridge trying to put together a quick-and-healthy meal? (Of course you do! We all do!) These Crispy Tuna Patties are perfect for those days! Not only are these patties quick, they’re easy, inexpensive, and packed with protein.

Fun Facts about Tuna

  • A source of high-quality protein with almost no fat
  • Contains essential amino acids needed by the body for growth and maintenance for lean muscle tissue
  • Canned tuna contains heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids

Last Sunday, I found myself in the “day-before-grocery-shopping” dilemma. Luckily, I had two cans of tun and other grocery staples to whip together some tuna patties. I’ve never made tuna patties before, but I absolutely love salmon croquettes. I used similar ingredients to make the Tuna Patties; instead of mixing in the almond flour, I decided to “bread” the patties to make them extra crispy. I also made a simple Dill Horseradish Tartar Sauce to go with the patties. YUM!

Tuna Patties

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes

Tuna Patty Ingredients

  • 2 cans tuna, drained
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 4 shakes Tabasco sauce
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 1 c almond flour (for breading)

Dill Horseradish Tartar Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp Dill relish
  • 1 tsp raw horseradish
  • 1 Tbsp dill weed
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Directions

To make the tuna patties, mix tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and whisked egg in a bowl. Use a measuring cup to portion out patties (1/4 c works best). Next, bread the patties in the almond flour. Fry the tuna patties in a skillet on medium-high heat in avocado oil for about 5 minutes on each side.
To make the tartar sauce, combine all the tartar sauce ingredients in a bowl. Serve with the tuna patties.
